Stressing upon the need to maintain oral hygiene, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani today said asked doctors to ensure that the people of Punjab have good dental health.
Inaugurating the 11th Reorientation Training Programme of Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) for dental doctors and hygienists, Jayani called upon the doctors to ensure adequate dental health and hygiene for the people of Punjab, according to an official release.
He said Punjab government plans to launch more organised campaign on health and hygiene with emphasis on oral healthcare.
He said children, who were more prone to dental ailments due to unhealthy eating habits, need to be taught at length about oral hygiene.
"We need to create awareness among the public through the dental awareness CD which was released to the district dental health officers," he said.
The Health Department has been regularly imparting training to the in-service dental doctors, he said.
He said as many as 282 in-service doctors have been trained so far in 14 such training programmes.
Two dental hygiene workshops and 16 district-level training programmes have been organised in the state on dental implants, he said.
127 PCMS dental surgeons have also been trained for placing dental implants, he said.
