PCB awaiting response from Kenya on proposed tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still awaiting a response from the Cricket Kenya (CK) after inviting their national team to Lahore and Faisalabad for a five match ODI series this month.
A official of the PCB told PTI that the Kenyan officials were seeking security clearance from their government to go ahead with the tour.
"We are confident this tour will take place and we are expecting the Kenyan team to reach Karachi on November 20 as per the itinerary we have sent them," the PCB official said.
If the tour does materialise Kenya would be the first ICC ranked team apart from Afghanistan to tour Pakistan since militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in March, 2009.

Since then no Test team has chosen to tour Pakistan because of security concerns.
The PCB official said that the Kenyan team which was preparing for the ICC World Cricket League Division Two Championship had been invited to play three matches in Lahore on November 22, 23 and 25 and two games in Faisalabad on November 28 and 29 against the Pakistan A side.

"The tour was discussed with the Kenyan officials during recent ICC meetings and they had given positive reponse to the invitation extended to them," the official added.
Kenya has slipped down the world rankings after taking part in the World Cups of 1996, 1999, 2004 and 2011.

The Kenyan coach, former international batsman, Steve Tikolo told a Kenyan radio station in Nairobi that the players were keen to make the tour as it would enable them to gain valuable exposure against a top opposition.
"We are waiting for security clearance because security is foremost for everyone. But if everything goes well we should be in Pakistan on November 20," he said.
The PCB has said that as part of its strategy to revive international cricket in Pakistan it had invited several associate members of the ICC to play in the strife-torn nation.
Ireland were also supposed to visit Pakistan in September but the tour didn't materialise after terrorists attacked the old Karachi airport terminal building in July.
