Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today called for a "joint strategy" to fight Jammu and Kashmir government's "aggression on people" alleging that the PDP-led dispensation had "failed" and "lost the moral authority" to rule.
"Before elections, PDP was saying that it stands for dialogue with Pakistan and healing touch. This is not a healing touch, but a killer touch. Innocent people are being targeted here.
"The government has absolutely failed. There is no sign of governance and this government has given all rights to police and security agencies to deal with the situation whichever way they want to," he told reporters here.
The Hurriyat chairman said the PDP should accept its "defeat" in providing succor to the people.
"There is no moral authority left for this government to remain in power. They should accept their defeat and mistakes that their approach and their policies are nowhere. They have adopted an anti-people approach. They have trampled on peoples' rights," he said.
Mirwaiz said the situation in Kashmir had become "alarming" and the need of the hour was that "all pro-freedom parties, religious organizations, trade bodies and lawyers should devise a united strategy to fight this war by the government on the people".
"In this connection, we have called for a joint meeting of all these groups at Mirwaiz Manzil to have a threadbare discussion over the situation so as to adopt a united strategy over this aggression," he said.
He said "arrogance of power" had crept in the leadership at the Centre.
"The way Indian Prime Minister ignored the reality and status of Kashmir issue (during his rally here), it implies the arrogance in Indian leadership. They do not even want to refer to Kashmir issue and ignore the pain and suffering of the people here," he said.
