The incident was reported at around 8.15 PM when a speeding Scorpio car lost balance at a speed breaker.
The car overturned, skidded for a few metres and ended up hitting a family doing their evening prayers at pavement nearby, said police.
Locals called up the police and the injured persons, including the driver of the car, were rushed to a hospital, where one person -- whose identity could not be ascertained yet -- was declared brought dead, said police.
Quick response teams under the district administration were also rushed to the spot to help the victims, said an official.
A case has been registered for rash driving and causing death by negligence, and investigation has been taken up, police added.
