Trinamool Congress today alleged that people were fast getting disillusioned with the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.
"The people had high hopes when the Modi government took over but it has been a total failure in the first 100 days. People are fast getting disillusioned," Trinamool Congress general secretary Mukul Roy told newspersons here.
"That reflects in the by-elections of Uttarakhand, Bihar, Karnataka and even Madhya Pradesh," Roy, whose party is the fourth largest in the 16th Lok Sabha with 34 MPs, said.
CPI(M) and Congress were also critical of Modi government and said it 'appeared directionless' in its first 100 days in power.
"In 100 days you can expect a government to at least show a direction in which it is working. But unfortunately the direction shown in the last 100 days shows that there is huge difference between what was promised by Narendra Modi during elections and what is being delivered now," CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat told PTI over phone.
"So its basically 'achche din' (good days) for a few and bitter pill for the majority of the countrymen. The communal incidents perpetuated by the nexus of BJP and RSS have also gone up in last three months," She said.
"It has also not only failed to contain price rise but is also contributing to it due to its policies," Karat said.
State Congress president Adhir Chowdhury too criticised the Modi government.
"Lot of things are being said by BJP and Narendra Modi. But it is less of work and more of lecture. It has been pursuing anti-people policies and the policies like financial inclusion, Jan Dhan bank are all brainchild of UPA regime."
Meanwhile, state BJP president Rahul Sinha dubbed the Modi government as the 'most proactive government' in independent India.
"If you go through the history of independent India, you will never find so much of work being done and such a successful tenure in just 100 days. It is historic in true sense," Sinha added.
