Katju was appointed PCI Chairman during the UPA government.
"It was unfortunate that a person of such a sick mentality reached to a position in the highest court of the country.
"When people lose relevance, some of them do such things. Otherwise who will notice them," Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma told reporters at the AICC office here.
In a blog, Katju had called Mahatma Gandhi a British agent and Netaji a Japanese one.
However, an unfazed Katju later said "mere censure" was not enough and he should be punished--"hanged without trial".
"O wonderful news ! The Rajya Sabha ( the upper House of the Indian Parliament ) has passed a resolution condemning me ! But of course that is not enough. I must also be punished for what I said about that fake who is called the Father of the Indian Nation, and that agent of the Japanese fascists. A mere censure is no punishment."
Katju also dared Lok Sabha to book him under "Lunatics Act".
Regarding questions about the BJP-led government in Goa dropping October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) from the list of official holidays, Sharma said that no state government can do it because it is a national holiday.
Regarding a question on whether Rahul Gandhi will attend the March 16 rally and Parliament gherao of Congress against land bill, Sharma said," I do not know. I do not comment on speculative reports.
