: The Karnataka High Court today dismissed a petition challenging the Election Commission order recognising former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa as President of the Karnataka Janata Party (KJP).
Justice Abdul Nazeer dismissed the plea by KJP founder Padmanabha Prasanna Kumar, challenging the EC order on the grounds that Yeddyurappa had violated election rules while declaring himself as the party President.
The court however granted liberty to the petitioner to approach the civil court on the matter.
Prasanna Kumar formally handed over the reigns of the party to Yeddyurappa at a rally in Haveri on December 9, 2012.
The EC subsequently recognised Yeddyurappa as the KJP President and rejected Prasanna Kumar's claim as the founder President.
