With the approval, that will come into effect from the new academic year, the total number of seats for the MDS course will increase from 13 to 19.
According to a letter recently sent by the ministry, the six additional seats include two each in orthodontics and prosthodontics and one each in oral and maxillofacial surgery and pedodontics, Principal Sanjay Tiwari said.
The ministry nod came on the basis of the report by Dental Council of India, which had conducted an inspection in December last year in respect of infrastructure available at the institute, he said.
On availability of teachers, Tiwari said three senior professors and 11 permanent Assistant Professors have joined in various specialities during last three years, adding they now plan to further increase four more post-graduate seats.
