The PIL, filed by activist Vishnu Gavali, was today mentioned before Justice Gautam Patel, who presided over a vacation bench.
However, the judge said he was placing the matter before a regular bench on January 5.
The petitioner, appearing in person, contended that from 2011 till date, the tribal development department has not provided essential items and security to tribal girl students. This should be done with immediate effect, he prayed.
The basic amenities mentioned in government resolutions of November 2011, April 2013 and June 2013 have not been provided to the inmates of tribal residential schools all over the state, the PIL alleged.
As a result, tribal students had gone on hunger strike in various parts such as Karjat, Neral, Mahad, Pali, Pen, Thane, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Jawajar, Talasari, Wada, Vikramgad, Goregaon, Panvel, Shahpur, Murbad and Bordi, it claimed.
