The plane went down during CarFest festival founded by TV presenter Chris Evans at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
Witnesses said two planes performed a close-proximity pass just before the crash, but one of the aircraft failed to pull up and crashed north of the circuit.
"Just after 2pm, there was a tragic accident - the result of which was one of the pilots involved in a synchro display lost his life," said Evans, who helped organise the event in aid of Children In Need, Sky News reported.
"The police have also advised us that the best thing, and the safest thing to do, is to carry on with the event - bearing in mind there are 10,000 children here. That's what we're going to do," Evans was quoted a saying in the report.
Cheshire Police said they were attending the incident at the park. There was no confirmation on the cause of the crash.
