FIR registered against University Professor

Police today registered an FIR against a professor of Pondicherry University on a complaint from a girl student that he had threatened and insulted her during a students agitation.
The student had complained that the Professor Praveen had allegedly intimidated her during the students stir at the University yesterday.
They students have been on war path since last few days demanding among other things replacement of the Vice Chancellor Chandra Krishnamoorthy for her alleged nepotism and administrative lapses. They also wanted steps to improve the hostel facilities.
Based on the complaint by the student, police registered FIR against the professor under various sections of IPC includig 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (act intended to insult modesty of woman), police said.
