The pistol was recovered from Fatehpur area under Garden Reach police station.
CID got a clue after interrogating S K Suhan and Ibon -- the two main accused.
The CID started a search operation along with them.
Suhan showed the CID the location from where the single-shot pistol and the skull of a bullet was recovered.
The pistol would be sent for forensic and other tests to verify whether the bullet that killed the cop was fired from it.
Special Branch Sub-Inspector Tapas Chowdhury was allegedly shot dead in a clash between Congress and Trinamool Party workers during a college election at Garden Reach area here on February 2.
