Plate Mill of Rourkela Steel Plant creates new record

The Plate Mill of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) created a new record by rolling 502 number of slabs into plates yesterday, which is its best ever performance since inception.
This achievement was made possible because of the meticulous planning and superb coordination amongst the Plate Mill collective in every step right from slab transfer from SMS-I and SMS-II to rolling, finishing and finally stacking the plates in the yard, RSP said in a release.
On the said date out of 24 hours, 23:30 hours were utilised for plates rolling which is also a record in itself, it said.
It is worth mentioning here that in spite of being a 56 year old Unit, the Plate Mill is consistently performing beyond its rated capacity.

CEO of RSP Ashwini Kumar visited the Mill today and congratulated the Mill collective on the achievement.
The CEO said he has great expectations from the Plate Mill collective which has the capability to overcome the technological hiccups with enthusiasm and ingenuity.
