Pleasant day in Delhi, fog continues to affect train schedules

It was a pleasant day in the national capital today even as the early morning sky remained obscured with shallow to dense fog with poor visibility.
According to a MeT Department official, the visibility at 5.30 AM was 50 meters and 100 meters, respectively, at Safdarjung and Palam.
It was later recorded to be 300 meters at Safdarjung, while it was 200 meters at Palam at 8.30 AM, the official said.
Later, at 5.30 PM the visibility level was recorded at 1,800 meters at Safdarjung and 250 meters at Palam, he added.
The fog affected train movement with cancellation and rescheduling of several trains.

Ninety trains were delayed with 28 running late by several hours. Another 44 trains have been rescheduled, while 23 have been cancelled due to the fog, said a senior Railway official.

The flight operations at IGI Airport, however, more or less remained normal with no disruption due to fog, said a Delhi Airport spokesperson.
The maximum temperature settled at 26.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal, while the minimum temperature was pegged at 12.4 degrees, three notches above the season's average.
The humidity oscillated between 98 and 48 per cent.
The Met Department has predicted mainly clear skies for tomorrow with the maximum and minimum temperature expected to settle at 25 and 11 degrees Celsius.

"The skies will be mainly clear. Moderate to dense fog is likely to occur towards morning," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature settled at 21.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 11.2 degrees.
