A doctor of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Vijay Krishna, has been missing since Sunday evening, according to police.
Though police is suspecting it to be a case of suicide, after his motorcycle was recovered from Mahatma Gandhi setu, the PMCH Junior Doctors Association (JDA) today rejected the assumption saying it could be an incidence of kidnapping or some other crime.
The doctor went missing from the posh Boring Road area under SK Puri police station in the state capital. His motorcycle was found by the police a few hours later at Mahatma Gandhi Setu, the bridge across the Ganga, connecting Patna to Hajipur.
SK Puri Station House Officer (SHO) Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar told PTI today, "A complaint has been registered in this regard by the doctor's family members and we are investigating it. It primarily seems to be a case of suicide, though we are also probing other angles like kidnapping and others."
The SHO said mobile phone of Krishna was switched off and the last call from it was made to his fiancee.
However, Secretary of PMCH JDA Dr Gopal Paswan said Krishna, who was also pursuing his PG at PMCH, was mentally sound and there was no reason whatsoever for him to commit suicide.
"I know Krishna for the last seven years. He talked to the girl to whom he is engaged, went out to have tea and then became traceless. We started looking for him when his family members contacted us. This seems to be a case of kidnapping," Paswan said.
He said that the JDA members met Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jitendra Rana to press for swift action in the matter. Krishna's fiancee was also present on the occasion.
"The SSP has assured us that the CCTV footage from cameras mounted on various roads of Patna would be reviewed to trace Krishna," Paswan added.
