The duo have been identified as Pintu (22) and Sonu Naagar (21), both natives of Hapur in UP, said DCP (South) Prem Nath.
The duo was tracked under a special drive initiated by south district of Delhi Police aimed at putting a check on the increasing number of motor vehicle theft cases reported in the concerned part of the city.
The police worked out 10 cases with the arrest of the accused duo and recovered as many as 16 motorbikes and one scooter from their possession, said Prem Nath.
Before stealing a motor cycle, they used to conduct reconnaissance in the area on a stolen scooter. Later, they used to tamper the Chassis numbers of the engines in order to conceal the identification of the vehicles before disposal, Nath added.
