Police official allegedly attacked by sand mafia

Sand mafia members allegedly opened fire at the vehicle of a senior police official who was on a patrolling duty in the district, police said today.

The Circle Officer (city) Satish Yadav - escaped unhurt in the incident which occurred late last night, SP Rajesh Singh said.

The officer was on a patrolling duty to check illegal sand mining under his circle on Agra-Mumbai national highway.

The accused opened fire targeting the government vehicle of the CO in which the officer was present but no one injured, they said, adding a case has been registered against the accused -- Gabbar Singh, Dinesh, Mumnesh, Hansraj and Raju -- in Kotwali Police Station, .
