Six days after the body of an unknown woman was recovered from a locality here, police have sought the help of CID and Crime Branch in order to establish her identity.
"It has been six days and till today, no one has claimed the ownership of the woman's body. So, we have sought the help of CID (Crime), city Crime Branch and state Crime Branch in Gandhinagar whether anyone outside the state knows her," Satellite Police Inspector Ashok Pandya told PTI.
The body of the woman, aged around 40, was recovered from Shreyas locality here on May 29. According to police, from the clothes she was wearing, she seemed to belong to a middle-to-upper class family.
"The post-mortem report of the woman has confirmed that she was strangulated to death before being dumped here," Pandya said.
He, however, added that the woman has to be identified first to establish the motive of the crime and then only can the probe go ahead.
He said that three police teams have been formed and sent to various cities and Ahmedabad (rural) police stations to verify the list of missing persons and their addresses.
The viscera of the deceased woman has already been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for detailed examination, Pandya added.
