The body had not been found yet, though, and the efforts to retrieve it were on.
Mukhtar, resident of Chigurallapalli village in the district, went missing on July 27, Pargi Circle Inspector Prasad said.
According to the preliminary information, some friends had taken him away on the pretext of giving money, the police officer said. Police have detained some youths and questioned them.
"We suspect that (after murder) Mukthar's body was cut into pieces and thrown into a 90-ft deep borewell. The body has not yet been found," he said.
