Police to get full day's salary if weekly off cancelled

The chief minister, who holds the home portfolio, said weekly offs of police officers often get cancelled for security duties

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that police personnel would get a full day's salary whenever their weekly off is cancelled.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Fadnavis, who holds the home portfolio, said weekly offs of police officers, irrespective of their rank, often get cancelled for security duties.

"A hawaldar (constable) got allowance of Rs 60 if the weekly off is cancelled. The allowance varied from post to post. We have now decided to hike the daily allowance and the police officerl would get one day's salary if the weekly off is cancelled," Fadnavis said.
