"In due course of investigation (of Bhatkal's stay in Goa), whatever lapses that had occurred (on the part of the police) we will very much take action," Deputy Inspector General of Police, O P Mishra, told reporters here.
Bhatkal, who has been arrested by NIA, was brought to Goa a week ago, when he had identified a place in Anjuna where he stayed along with his two accomplices.
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that NIA had found some chemicals in the room, which were apparently being used to prepare a bomb.
The DIG refused to accept that there was intelligence failure to track Bhatkal's presence in the state, and said he would not react on media reports.
Mishra said that the landlord who had rented out his house to Bhatkal's accomplice has faulted majorly when he did not inform police about the presence of chemicals in his house.
"The landlord found chemicals but he dumped it in the backyard of his room. It was his duty to inform police about the suspicious chemicals," the DIG said.
