"Police should not be misused for political purposes. It is capable of handling big criminals. For development, law and order is a must. Due to politicisation of force, law and order problems rise," he said.
On the ongoing dispute in the Samajwadi Party, Rajnath said, "There is a law and order problem in the SP government, and the dispute is affecting the common man."
The Union Minister claimed, the state government should give accounts of the huge amounts of money it received from the Centre for natural calamities.
"It is a matter of pride that in over two years (at the Centre) no one could charge any minister with corruption," he said.
Rajnath was here to attend a function on death anniversary of former MP Harikewal Prasad.
