Pregnant elephant found dead

A 40-year-old pregnant elephant has died due to old age and illness in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve in the district.
On information, forest personnel yesterday went to Kothamangalam Third Tower forest area in the Tiger Reserve and found the female elephant dead.
A veterinarian who examined the carcass found a dead male fetus in the elephant's womb.
Officials said the elephant had died due to illness and old-age and no foul play was suspected.
After the autopsy, forest personnel buried the elephant in the area itself.
