President to felicitate industry captains in Kolkata

President Pranab Mukherjee will felicitate a group of industry leaders at the formal inauguration of the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, this Sunday.
Tata Steel managing director T V Narendran, BHEL's Chairman and managing director B P Rao, SAIL chairman C S Verma, Garden Reach Ship Building Engineers' CMD A K Verma, CII director general Chandrajit Banerjee and Hindustan Aeronautics chairman Dr R K Tyagi will be felicitated by the President, IIEST director Ajoy Kumar Ray told reporters here today.
"We are organising this to increase industry-academia collaboration as now we look forward to work more closely with the industry after getting IIEST status from being a state university (Bengal Engineering and Science University)," Ray said.
IIEST, Shibpur, is located in Howrah district, on the outskirts of Kolkata.
A release from Rashtrapati Bhawan said the President would visit West Bengal for two days from tomorrow.
He will inaugurate a new building of Domkal Girls' College in Murshidabad district where he will also address students of Krishnath College at Berhampore and inaugurate a football tournament at Jangipur tomorrow.
On Sunday, Mukherjee will inaugurate the new campus of Management Development Institute (MDI), Murshidabad and also address its first batch of students.
