President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the annual convention of transparency watchdog Central Information Commission (CIC) here Friday, according to a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry.
The 13th annual convention on 'Data privacy and Right to Information, Amendment in the RTI Act and Implementation of the RTI Act' is aimed at recommending measures for improving the transparency and accountability with a view to improve governance, it said Thursday.
The convention shall deliberate on three specific subjects like data privacy and Right to Information, amendment in the RTI Act and implementation of the RTI Act.
A welcome speech will be delivered by Chief Information Commissioner R K Mathur.
Prof M S Acharyulu and Bimal Julka, Information Commissioners, Upendra Baxi, former vice-chancellor, University of Delhi, RTI activists Venkatesh Nayak and Subhash Chandra Agarwal, among others will participate in the annual convention and make presentations, the statement said.
All the present and former chief information commissioners and information commissioners of the CIC, state information commission, central public information officers as well as the other government officers will participate, it said.
RTI activists and NGOs associated with the implementation of the RTI Act will also attend the convention, the statement added.
