More than 100 doctors of the district are not going to their clinics and nursing homes today to protest against growing incidents of attack on them by people accompanying patients, District Secretary of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Sanjay Kumar said.
He said the strike would continue tomorrow also.
Kumar, himself a doctor, said the decision to go on strike was taken after a meeting to review growing incidents of attack on them over death of patients during the treatment and police inaction in arresting the culprits, and providing them security.
Similar activities were witnessed in some other nursing homes also in recent past prompting doctors to agitate, he said.
