Probe reveals luxurious lifestyle of drug racket accused

Interrogations of the accused in the synthetic drug racket case have revealed that many of them led a luxurious lifestyle and owned luxury cars, police said today.
Police are conducting thorough investigations into the background of the accused so as to cross-check all their linkages and connections, they said.
The drug racket was busted with the arrests of mastermind Jagdish Bhola and his associates, major supplier Jagjit Singh Chahal and Maninder Singh Aulakh.
Patiala SSP H S Mann said the Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (DHMS) degree acquired by Chahal in 1993 from Patna has come under the scanner and the authenticity of the certificate was being verified from concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, investigations revealed that Chahal led an opulent lifestyle with a penchant for luxury cars having single digit numbers (0001) and single digit mobile numbers as well, he said. The SSP said it has also come to light that Aulakh alias Bittu had visited Pakistan in 2004 for an India-Pakistan cricket match.
It was also disclosed in the investigation by Bittu that his family has a similar background and his father Master Partap Singh faced cases of gold smuggling and charges under the Opium Act. He was once transferred from Amritsar to Samana (Patiala) in 1994 as punishment and from where he retired.

He was also a close relative of notorious smuggler late Paramjit Pamma Madoke.
Prime accused and Arjuna awardee wrestler Jagdish Singh alias Bhola and his four associates -- Sarabjit Singh alias Saba, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, Baljinder Singh and Ravinder Singh -- were arrested on Monday from a dhaba on GT Road near Haryana's Murthal, about 50 km from New Delhi.
