The court found Rajat Kumar Mohanty, a guest faculty member, guilty under section 354 of IPC and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
Mohanty subsequently got bail and he is going to challenge the verdict before the High Court, inspector V Ashok Reddy of Osmania University police station said.
The 26-year old woman had alleged that Mohanty, a native of Cuttack who was a visiting professor of linguistics and phonetics at EFLU, misbehaved with her after calling her to his room at the guest house on the varsity campus in December 2011.
