Protests broke out in and around Bhaderwah town of district Doda last evening when some people alleged that religious verses were written on the paper used for making crackers in the effigies burnt during Dussehra at Seri Bazaar.
The protesters raised slogans demanding stern action against the culprits and burnt tyres in the main market.
The protesters also blocked the vehicular traffic on Bhaderwah-Doda road and did not allow any traffic to move beyond Domail since 7 AM, demanding action against the crackers manufacturing company.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bhaderwah, Sardar Sajjad Ahmed Khan, said that police has registered an "open" FIR against the crackers manufacturing company on charge of hurting religious sentiments.
