"On October 11, SHO of Bhiwadi police station with security in civil dress barged inside the house of Hasan at Berla village under Tizara police station in search of Chatru, a criminal. There was no lady constable with the police team. The police also confiscated their tractor and bolero without any reason," PUCL convener Kavita Shrivastava said quoting the fact-finding report of the Rights' organization.
"The cops hit a 7-month pregnant woman Jannati. On October 12, more than 200 policemen came in one bus and five Boleros. They destroyed all belongings of Hasan and his brother's (Hasmuddin) house. Pots, utensils, fodder cutting machine, cooler, fans, lights, bulbs, flour crushing machine, were damaged," she added.
In a memorandum to the Director-General of Police, PUCL urged that villagers of Belra be given special security, their vehicles be returned, and compensation of Rs two lakh be granted to the villagers who suffered economic and emotional loss in the alleged police action, she said.
"Besides FIR, the police officials who were involved in this incident should be dismissed and be sent to jail," the PUCL convener told a press conference after her team visited the affected village recently.
