He also called upon the people to support their families and contribute generously towards the Flag Day Fund and the cause of rehabilitation of war widows, disabled defence personnel and ex-servicemen.
The historic day gave an opportunity to reaffirm solidarity with the Armed Forces and to recognise the services of those who have retired, he said.
Badal also released a compendium on welfare schemes of state and Centre government for ex-servicemen, widows and their wards.
