Speically designed mini-buses-'Punjab Congress Express' will be flagged off by the PCC president Amarinder Singh in presence of senior party leaders from the Congress Bhawan here tomorrow as part of party's new campaign "Congress Liyao Punjab Bachao."
The minibuses will be shown the green flag by Captain Amarinder Singh at 12 noon and will leave for their respective districts where they will begin the "nukkad sabhas" (corner meetings) starting September 26.
"Congress Liyao Punjab Bachao", campaign will see 40 Congress leaders criss-crossing all of Punjab for the next 37 days, conducting 1404 "nukkad sabhas" of at least 1000-3000 people each, establishing direct contact with about 15 lakh people, and reaching out to more than 1.5 crore people of the state.
This "semi-macro" campaign follows the bigger assembly constituency meetings that the leaders conducted in all of 117 assembly segments. This time, it's the Congress stalwarts who will be going down to people aboard the Punjab Congress Express, said a party release.
The campaign will witness leaders like Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Sunil Jakhar, Preneet Kaur, Manpreet Badal etc. address smaller meetings in nooks and crannies of Punjab, and take Congress and Captain Amarinder's message "right down to the grassroots."
Each Punjab Congress Express will have on board three to four leaders who will spend one entire day in a constituency and address nukkad meetings at four different points a day.
Each assembly segment will witness at least 12 nukkad sabhas over a period of 37 days. The points have been pre- identified and meticulously placed on a route-map, based on the feedback from the ground and the demand of the residents to meet their leaders personally.
The 'Punjab Congress Express' is a 12-seater, GPS-enabled minibus, equipped with mikes and speakers which will constantly be playing the Campaign song "Chahunda hai Punjab, Captain di Sarkar" and can easily turn into mobile, public address platforms.
Further, the vehicle has been carefully branded to resonate with the masses.
The multi-coloured Punjab Congress Express has the same design as that of Congress' wall wraps, backdrops, posters etc prominently featuring Captain Amarinder against a natural backdrop of blue skies and fertile farm.
On the driver's side the tricolour theme has been used which people associate with Congress.
Punjab Congress's campaign slogan "Chahunda Hai Punjab Captain Di Sarkar" has been printed on all sides of Punjab Congress Express.
The lyrics of the Punjab Congress campaign song adorn the inside of the bus.
