Punjab govt disburses grant in aid to local bodies: Minister

The state government has disbursed grant in aid worth Rs 751.58 crore to all 149 local bodies in Punjab to compensate these for the loss of octroi, Local Bodies minister Anil Joshi said here today.
"This grant is meant for overall development of the cities," he said.
The grant in aid was provided to local bodies out of the collection of the VAT, Joshi said.
