Stating that Punjab remains his priority Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Amarinder Singh today cautioned people not to vote for "wrong people" in the next state election.
Addressing a rally in support of local Congress MLA, Singh, Amritsar MP and a former Punjab Chief Minister, cautioned people to be careful at the time of casting their votes in 2017 state election "lest they end up voting for the wrong people and wrong party."
He also reiterated that Punjab will remain his priority. However, he added "that does not mean I will not fulfil my responsibilities as an MP".
Talking to the reporters, Amarinder said he had told Congress President Sonia Gandhi at the time of General Elections in 2014 that he was not interested in national politics as Punjab was his priority.
The Congress President had also agreed and even assured him that he could resign at the right time to serve Punjab, he said.
The former chief Minister, a known detractor of Punjab Congress president Pratap Singh Bajwa, also said that the selection of the PCC chief was the prerogative of the party President.
Referring to the delay in implementation of one rank one pension scheme by the BJP government at the Centre, he said, "If the Prime Minister can announce Rs 1.25 lakh crores for Bihar and Rs 1 lakh crore for Kashmir, why he could not sanction Rs 9,100 crores for the OROP for the people who had given their life for the nation.
