As a consequence of the efforts being made in this direction, an order has been issued for the purchase of 96 brand new multipurpose fire vehicles.
Disclosing this here today, Anil Joshi, the Local Bodies Minister, Punjab, said that tenders have been finalised in this regard by the purchase committee constituted by the department.
In accordance with it, the work of fabrication and supplying the 96 multipurpose fire vehicles has been handed over to a Hyderabad-based firm Sri Taikon.
He also informed that the firm has been asked to deposit 10 per cent amount through bank guarantee.
Joshi elaborated that the upgradation of fire service would lead to timely action in preventing any mishap.
