:Close on the heels of DMK demanding convening of the Assembly session to discuss release of five fishermen sentenced to death by a court in Sri Lanka, Puthiya Tamizhagam today said Chief Minister O Paneerselvam should convene it to discuss various issues, including construction of dams across Cauvery and Pambaru by Karnataka and Kerala.
To uphold the rights of Tamil Nadu on the river waters, the issues should be discussed in the assembly and special resolutions passed to oppose both states which are going ahead with plans to construct dams at Mekedatu in Karnataka and Pambar in Kerala, Puthiya Tamizhagam founder president and MLA Dr K Krishnasamy told reporters here.
Moreover, a resolution should also be passed seeking to revoke the death sentence against the five fishermen from Tamil Nadu pronounced by a court in Sri Lanka, he said.
Krishnasamy said he would meet Governor Rosaiah to intervene in the matter if the assembly was not convened at the earliest.
