"PWF has decided to contest the bypoll. Leaders of all three parties will hold consultations in a day or two and we will come out with our announcement on the candidate after our discussions," CPI(M) State Secretary G Ramakrishnan and VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan told reporters here.
They said the political ambiance against corruption was now better in Tamil Nadu and the "chances for PWF was bright."
"An assurance was given in the presence of Union Minister Sushma Swaraj during parleys," he said.
It was "anguishing" that the Centre had not responded to the agitations of fishermen against the killing of fisher youth, he said.
Urging the Union government to respond to fishermen's representations and announce appropriate relief to the kin of the deceased fishermen, he said that the Centre should give an assurance that it would take steps to ensure that such incidents incidents are not repeated by Sri Lanka.
