Agriculture Minister Prabhu Lal Saini said the government was focusing on floriculture as well as new innovations in farming.
"A detailed work plan will be prepared by the government to promote the farming of strawberry and stevia in the state soon. There is an increase in the demand of stevia and strawberry and we want to meet the requirement from within the state," Saini said while visiting a centre of excellence for vegetables in Bassi area in the district.
He said the government will also promote hydroponics farming, a method with which plants can be grown without soil, and training will be given to farmers through the centre of excellence.
The minister also inspected the research work in the centre and gave necessary directions to officials.
