"There are many patients who despite taking medication find no improvement in their hypertensive state. Such patients are susceptible to stroke. For them Metro Hospital is going to start a treatment technique based on radio frequency," chief cardiologist and Metro Group Of Hospitals chairman Purshotam Lal said at a seminar held today at hospital premises on eve of World Health Day.
Lal is also a member of governing board of Medical Council of India (MCI).
Hypertension is a major public health problem worldwide and is one of the risk factors for coronary artery disease and cerebrovascular disease.
It is a major risk factor for cardio-vascular diseases that killed 2.7 million people in 2004 and will result in the death of over four million people by 2030.
