Congress president Rahul Gandhi will soon converse directly with the block and booth-level workers in Goa as part of the party's voter outreach campaign ahead of Lok Sabha elections, a senior party functionary said Tuesday.

AICC Secretary A Chellakumar said the Congress has decided to designate their prominent workers as "Sahyogis" who will connect voters with the party organisation.

Gandhi had conversed with block and booth-level committees in Karnataka and Telangana, he said.

"Very soon we can expect that in Goa. Already he had spoken with Goa Pradsh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar," he said.

Chellakumar was addressing a meeting of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and state executive committee to launch "Jan Sampark Abhiyaan" of the party in two Lok Sabha constituencies in Goa.

Both the Lok Sabha constituencies--South Goa and North Goa--are currently represented by BJP.

Chellakumar also said the party workers will undertake a door-to-door campaign in both the constituencies, carrying a letter written by the Congress chief.

This campaign will have to be completed within 10-15 days, he said.

"You have to go door-to-door and establish contacts at the grassroot level. At the same time, you have to distribute party material," Chellakumar said, adding that party workers will collect donation during their visit to the voters.

A separate committee for the public outreach campaign will be formed in both the constituencies which will work parallel to the block level committees.

"We need to work in a time-bound manner. In 2019, we must ensure that the Congress government in the Centre will root out BJP," he said.

Chellakumar said Congress will designate prominent workers of the party as "Sahyogis" who will help connecting voters with the party organisation.

"Each 'Sahyogi' will have 30-35 houses under his ambit. Sahyogis will have to look after the interest of those living in these houses. They will be responsible for those houses. Sahayogis will act like a bridge between the party high command and the households," Chellakumar added.
