Rai takes part in human chain formation to promote odd-even

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai today participated in a human chain formation as part of an effort to encourage people to support the car-rationing experiment aimed at cutting air pollution in the city.
The chain was formed by members of 'Forum of Environmental Friends' at the Jantar Mantar here. An official said that hundreds of people participated in the event.
On the occasion, the transport minister said that people need to be encouraged to participate in this anti-pollution drive.
He also said that odd-even scheme has been introduced to bring down rising pollution level and people are supporting the car-rationing scheme.
Amid reports that the odd-even scheme may be extended, Rai today also asserted that the government has no intention to take the road-rationing experiment beyond January 15.
As many as 875 people were fined today for violating the rules under the scheme.
