Rail Budget, an injustice to Maharashtra: NCP

Key UPA ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today termed as "injustice" the lack of announcements made for Maharashtra in the Rail Budget and hoped Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal will consider its demands in his reply to the discussion in the Lok Sabha.
Participating in the debate on Railway Budget, Samir Bhujbal said people had hoped that Maharashtra would get a fair share in the budget as Congress has got back the portfolio after several years.
"It is injustice to Maharashtra...Our expectations regarding Mumbai and Maharashtra were not fulfilled...," he said.
He claimed that his demand for a Rail Coach Factory in Nashik was rejected on the grounds that there were sufficient units producing coaches.

He said while his demand was turned down, factories were announced by Bansal in various states, including Haryana. He questioned the logic behind rejecting his plea.
Hours after the Railway Budget was presented in Lok Sabha last month, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had said the government has "totally neglected" the problems faced by 80 lakh commuters in Mumbai.
NCP told the UPA coordination committee meeting here convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and attended by Congress President Sonia Gandhi among others that the "neglect is not acceptable".
