Rains continue in UP, rise in water level of major rivers

Parts of Uttar Pradesh received moderate to heavy rainfall with the water level rising in the major rivers of the state.
According to the MeT office, heavy rainfal occurred at isolated places over western UP. Budhana, Jansath, Garoyha received 7 cm of rains followed by Hapur, Kaimganj (4 cm each), Jasrana, Atrauli, Rath, Meerut, Muzaffernagar (2 cm each) and Jalaun, Kairana and Aligarh (1 cm each).
As per a Centre Water Commission report, the water level in the Ganga is on the rise in Kannauj, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi and Ballia while the Yamuna is rising in Mohna, Auraiya and Naini (Allahabad) and the Sharda is flowing at the danger mark in Palliakalan (Kheri) and the water level is on the rise.
