Capital Delhi recorded 10.9 mm of rain till evening. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 30.7 degrees celsius, three less than normal and the minimum was 25.5 degrees celsius, one less than the usual.
Uttar Pradesh received moderate to heavy rainfall at a few places over the past 24 hours.
Met office sources said, rainfall was recorded at Balrampur, Bansi, Utraula, Shahabad, Bhinga, Bilari, Bisalpur, Dumariaganj, Maharajganj, Hapur and Kasganj.
They said heavy rain might occur at one or two places in the state.
Central Water Commission sources said that Ganga which was rising all through from Kannauj to Varanasi was flowing very near the danger mark at Fatehgarh.
Yamuna was also showing a rising trend from Mathura to Naini (Allahabad), sources said, adding, Sharda river was still flowing above the danger mark at Palia Kalan though it has started receding.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government said belying predictions of a drought, the state has received above normal rainfall this year following two days of torrential showers which led to the death of 27 people in the state.
The state on August 9 had a rainfall deficit of 29.69 per cent. However, the situation took a u-turn two days ago when torrential rains lashed the state. The state has now received 4.89 per cent above normal rainfall. MORE
