Raj govt to introduce mobile app for immediate response in

Amid concerns over rising death toll in road accidents, Rajasthan government is set to introduce a mobile application that intends to reduce the casualties by half by 2020.
The app is likely to be rolled out nationally that can help the country achieve the objective of WHO's Brasilia declaration. The app 'Hamsafar' is developed by a young bureaucrat and Chittorgarh collector Inderjeet Singh.
"A unique app for road safety has been developed by Chittorgarh district collector, is ready and we are going to introduce it in the state on December 13, on completion of three years of the state government," the state transport minister Yunus Khan told PTI.

"The government aims to reduce the number of road accidents and deaths by half by 2020 as per Brasilia declaration adopted last year and Rajasthan is showing the path for a turnaround to other states in the country," Khan said.
"The government of India is also very keen to implement this project at the national level," he said.
"When we can save our time on travel by boarding a taxi using a mobile app then why this cannot be achieved in reducing the response time in a case of accident? This led to the idea of developing mobile app to save every single minute after the accident," Singh said.

The app will be integrated with the details of hospitals, police station, ambulance service, emergency services and the user can assess contact details, can seek help or ambulance or report an accident.

"There will be immediate response in shortest possible time as the officers of police, district administration, hospital and other stakeholders will get real time notifications through the app when the user reports," he said.
Contact directory of concerned departments, details of hospitals, petrol pumps, police stations and other emergency services will be just one click away, Singh said.
"Since it is integrated with the map, there will not be any delay in tracing the victim," he said.

The interface will be available in both English and Hindi.
The state Cabinet had also approved a road safety policy last week with an objective to reduce the number of deaths in road accidents by 50 per cent by the year 2020.
According to 2015 National Crime Records Bureau data, 141,526 persons were killed and 477,731 injured in road traffic crashes in India in the year 2014.
In Rajasthan alone, 8,733 people were killed and 22,255 people injured in 20,201 road accident last year.
