The lawyer fraternity here today expressed objection to the Rajasthan High Court's nod to the Supreme Court's suggestion regarding courts being open 365 days, saying such a proposal was "impractical".
The full court of the Rajasthan High Court had given a nod to the 365 days working proposal of the Supreme Court on Friday, which had irked the lawyers of the state.
The Bar Council of Rajasthan (BCR), which had organised an urgent meeting in Jodhpur today, termed the proposal to be "impractical and unwarranted" have requested the Rajasthan High Court to withdraw it by June 30.
"If the decision is not taken back by then, the BCR would assemble to decide out further course of action to oppose it," BCR secretary R P Mallik said.
The members expressed resentment for not having been taken into confidence before the decision and not bringing the matter into discussion with them.
They, however, said the BCR would welcome any suggestion from the Rajasthan High Court or the CJI regarding expedited disposal of the pending cases.
Lawyers in Jaipur had suspended the work on Friday to protest this decision.
It may be recalled that early May in Jodhpur, the Chief Justice of India R M Lodha had expressed the need of triggering a debate and exploration of the possibilities of all year round working in the courts in order to expedite the disposal of the cases in the courts in India while pointing to the huge pendency of the cases indifferent courts.
