Rajasthan government has set up a state-level coordination centre here to facilitate information relating to Rajasthani workers who are stranded in strife-torn Iraq to their families.
The state-level centre has been set up by the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC) under Overseas Placement Bureau with email and phone call facilities, an official statement issued last night said.
Those who want to know about the whereabouts of their relatives stuck in Iraq can contact the centre by calling on 0141-5103248 and 07726007935.
The centre will coordinate with the Iraqi embassy or Overseas Ministry to get the information concerned at the earliest, the release, quoting RSLDC's Chairman and Managing Director Gaurav Goyal, said.
Yesterday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje wrote to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, seeking her intervention for safe and speedy release of Indian nationals held hostage in Iraq.
In her letter, Raje expressed concern for security of the Indian workers, including those hailing from Rajasthan.
Iraq is witnessing serious strife with Sunni militants, backed by al Qaeda, capturing two key cities and marching towards Baghdad. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been displaced in the fighting that broke out on June 10.
