Rally to generate awareness for conservation of Kaziranga

The rally organised by Aaranyak, a society for bio- diversity conservation in association with Upatyaka, a conservation organization and Assam forest department, was flagged off at Bokakhat in Upper Assam's Golaghat district by Congress MLA Arun Phukan.

The rally, supported by David Shepherd Foundation, will culminate on January five at Garhpal in Sonitpur district in the North Bank of Brahmaputra after travelling through Kaziranga National Park spreading conservation awareness in villages during the next three days.

Kaziranga National Park Director N K Vasu said on the occasion that youths can play pivotal role in creating awareness for conservation of wildlife and offered his best wishes to cyclists so that they can achieve their goal.

About 25 cyclists comprising youths from fringe villages of Kaziranga National Park participated in the rally.

Aaranyak's Secretary General Dr Bibhab Kumar Talukdar said that the purpose of the cycle rally was to reach out to the fringe villagers around the Park especially those in the North Bank of river Brahmaputra.

''We intend to create a young team around the Park along with other partner organisations to organise more such awareness cum education camps in near future'', Talukdar added.
