Rape charge against unknown accused in death of 2-yr-old girl

Police here have registered rape charges against an unidentified accused after injury marks were discovered in the private parts of a two-year-old girl who was found dead following her alleged kidnapping last week.
"Last Thursday, police had registered a case of kidnapping against an unidentified person at Ghatkopar police station," DCP (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said here today.
On Friday, Ghatkopar police recovered the body of the missing girl from a slum area in Powai.
"Today, the medical reports suggested that apart from the injury marks on the victim's body, there were injury marks on her private parts as well, following which a section of rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been slapped against the accused," Kulkarni said.

An in-depth probe into the case has been launched and it is being investigated as to whether there was a "revenge angle" behind the crime, Kulkarni said.
