According to a government release, Rawat in a meeting on the Ganga cleanliness plan yesterday had directed the district magistrates to create an report on the drains flowing into the river and also identify the villages bordering the river and prepare a report on them.
Rawat said permanent community toilets should be built even in places of floating population and a proposal should be created for the same to improve the drainage system.
Rawat has also given directions to create a consolidated plan for cities like Rishikesh and Haridwar which are situated on the banks of Ganga. Similarly, he wants a plan to be prepared for Yamuna and other rivers, as all small rivers converge with the Ganga or Yamuna.
Rawat said, the condition in which Ganga originates from Gangotri, the state government is committed to giving it to the country in the same condition.
He said that in the cities situated on the banks of the river focus should be laid on cleanliness, sewarage and treatment plants and a plan should be prepared for them. And while preparing them it should be kept in mind what will be the population in these places after 10 years.
Rawat has said that the proposals to be sent to the central government should be prepared on time.
